10 Ways to Pamper Yourself This Winter

pamper yourself this winter

Winter is here for a few months; it is a time that is dark and cold and makes us want to be at home more and feel cozy.  Here are 10 ways you can pamper yourself this winter.

Body:
1. Face Lotion –

Winter weather is cold and often leads to dry skin. This winter, to combat dry skin take time each day to use a gentle scrub to remove any dead skin, then pamper your face with a lotion that gives your skin much needed moisture. See this article by the NY Post about their list of best lotions from 2022 for dry skin, The 47 best dry skin products that we tested in 2022 (nypost.com)

I am personally loving the Il Makiage cream. It feels cool and smooth when it goes on and makes my skin feel smooth and hydrated.

2. Body Scrub –

We spend a lot of time on our faces, but don’t forget to pamper the rest of your skin as well. I love using a good salt scrub in the shower it makes my skin feel so soft, like I have been to a spa. Take time to make sure to use it on your heels to help prevent dry rough feet. Try this high recommended body scrub from First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub.

3. Toenails –

For toenails I am going to recommend at least for a couple weeks in the winter to let your toenails breath. That means, no toenail polish. Let those digits go au naturelle. Hopefully, any white chalky patches which is called keratin granulation, will quickly clear up and soon be ready for a fresh coat of polish in a few weeks.

4. Exercise –

In January and we all start off strong with ambitious goals. Keep it going this year. Take it a day at a time and try to do something that makes your body better, even if its small. Do some band work or stretching while watching your favorite show. The time will pass quickly, and your body will be stronger or more flexible.

5. Flannel Sheets –

In the winter I just want to be warm. Nothing beats getting into a warm, cozy bed. Spend a bit of money and get set of amazing flannel sheets from LL Bean. They are super soft, super warm and cozy. They make getting into bed feel like a luxury. Although, as a warning, they also make it harder to get out of bed 😊

6. Heated Mattress Cover –

To step it up even more, get a heated mattress cover that you can put on an hour before bed, and you will look forward to crawling between the warm sheets. Going to bed early to relax in your warm bed and read an amazing book is truly a treat on a cold winter night. Try this one through Amazon.

7. Read –

A great book this winter in your cozy bed or sitting in front of the fire. This is the perfect time of year to grab a warm tea, soft blanket, and immerse yourself in an amazing new book. I highly recommend, Be neath a Scarlet Sky, by Mark Sullivan which is a true story about a young Italian

man named Pino Lella who helped Jews safely escape over the Alps into Switzerland when the war began. He later became the driver for Hitler’s left-hand man and used the knowledge he learned to help the resistance. It is an incredible story, made all the more powerful because it is true.

8. Lumosity –

This is an app has been developed to train your brain. It picks different games for you each day under different categories such a memory, speed, flexibility, attention and problem solving. If you want to just play 3 games a day, the app is free. It’s fun and doesn’t take a lot of time and it helps improve brain functions.

9. Documentary –

The documentary called 13th about slavery and racial injustice/ inequality in the court and prison systems. It will open your eyes and educate you. You can find it on Netflix.

10. Charity –

Don’t forget to help others. This time of the year its cold and many people need to spend their hard-earned money keeping their homes warm instead of putting food on the table. The rise in inflation has made the cost of food increasingly high. There is only so much money to meet a family’s needs. Give money or your time to a local food bank and help someone in need.
