Can’t posiLIVEity without these 7 things this month……
An Open BOOK
The Power of One, by Bruce Courtenay was recommended to me by 2 of my favorite people and I am loving it. It’s a story of an English boy living in South Africa during the 1930-40s. I love this quote from it,
“He had given me the power of one. One idea, one heart, one mind, one plan, one determination.”
At all times of the year, I love a good book, but I’m truly enjoying this book through Audible. It’s super convenient to listen as I drive, walk the dog, or do chores around the house. The narrator’s voice is a joy to listen to and is perfect for the story.
Enjoy!
Be on the WATCH
To be honest, prior to the show ‘Queen of the South’, I hadn’t watched that much tv at all in the past couple of months. I saw this show was a favorite on Netflix, tried the pilot, and quickly got hooked.
The first 4 seasons are on Netflix. Unfortunately, the 5th season is not on Netflix yet, but is on USA Network. I am debating purchasing it through Prime Video since I don’t think I can wait for it to come out Netflix.
If you like strong women who pick themselves up after their life falls apart through sheer grit, determination, and smarts, you’ll love this show.
The main character is Theresa Mendoza who is targeted by a drug cartel. Through cunning, her ability to understand people, and quest to do business differently, she builds her own drug empire.

I’m all EARS
I listen to audible books as I mentioned above, but I also love a good podcast or TEdtalk. This month I really enjoyed a podcast from ‘The Happiness Lab’, with Laurie Santos called ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Like’.
The podcast discusses the science behind why we aren’t motivated to do many of the things that we know in the end will make us happy, but that take work to get there. Laurie uses exercising and eating healthy as examples, which we can all admit, we struggle with some times.
Laurie gives us strategies to help us tackle our lack of motivation to do these things that ultimately bring us a lot of joy.
No Worse for WEAR
I love going for hikes in the fall. A beautiful sunny day with crisp air and the smell of leaves is a simple pleasure that brings me joy while on a walk with my dog Gin-e.
I found these Ortovox Delago leggings while on a trip to Vermont and I wore them in Iceland and they were perfect for the damp colder weather!
These leggings are made of merino wool, super comfy, easy to move in, warm, water resistant and tear resistant. They also make your butt look great 😊 which let’s be honest, is always a plus. I am also thinking about wearing them as my base layer while skiing this coming winter.
FOOD for Thought
My quest this fall was to make my life a bit easier getting dinner on the table for me and the kids. I wanted to find a way to save me time preparing dinner, shopping for food, and also give me and the kids different dinner options to eat. I tend to have certain go to meals that end up being boring.
So, I joined Feast and Fettle and 2 days a week they deliver homemade meals that I just need to heat up. I used it through the fall and I’m going to continue through the winter.
- There are about 10 new meals per week to choose from each week including about 3 vegetarian options. There are also 3 simple meals that are always on the menu (simply grilled chicken, simply seared salmon, and simply grilled flank steak).
- You get to pick the # of days for delivery, the specific days, the number of people to feed, and the menu for each day. I chose delivery for 2 people and there is enough for me and the 2 kids.
- The company sends an email when a new menu is up several weeks before it’s to be delivered.
- You have until the Thursday before the week of delivery to pick your meals. You can cancel at any time.
- They deliver the day of and leave in an insulated bag with ice pack.
- Just heat and enjoy!
It’s been super simple and tasty!

Just one of those THINGS
I have been trying for years different options to replace plastic wrap because I know its bad for the environment. I have tried the beeswax wraps and the silicone covers, but neither of them really worked well for me.
I can’t see what is in the bowl when it’s wrapped inside the beeswax and the silicone covers don’t seem to fit any of my bowls or plates properly.
I found this Compositic wrap on amazon. It works the exact same way as regular plastic wrap. It is clear and it sticks like normal wrap.
but,
it’s guilt free cling wrap because it’s certified to break down in a compost within 12-24 weeks!
I will say that the only thing I have found frustrating is the cutter on the box is really dull and does not cut well. I’m hoping they fix this because it is annoying.
So, I think I have finally found a product that is environmentally friendly but works the way I want it to! They also have baggies that compost as well, but I haven’t yet tried those.
TRIP of a Lifetime
We travel with our dog Gin-e a lot. She goes on our trips home to Canada which are usually for longer stays and she also is with us on long weekend trips for skiing or hiking.
In the past, I’ve measured out her food into a plastic baggie ☹. However, I recently found this super cute Doggie Bag from Wilderdog, that we can use over and over now.
- It can be rolled or unrolled depending on how much food you need to take with you.
- Has a handle super easy for carrying
- Comes with its own measuring cup (I just keep it inside the bag so I don’t forget it)
- They come in 4 different colors. I liked all the colors which made picking hard, but I ended up picking the maroon.
I think you and your dog will enjoy this doggie bag!
Hope you enjoyed this month’s list of my favorite things I can’t posiLIVEity without!
Let me know what you liked and helped you live more positively.
